UA Student Success District

Tucson, AZ

Student success goes beyond academics; it encompasses physical wellness, mental health, and financial stability. Recognizing this, the University of Arizona has created a comprehensive Student Success District that integrates diverse services into a single, cohesive hub that supports students holistically by addressing their needs both as scholars and as individuals.

Prior to this project, support programs were scattered across campus, often in isolated and unwelcoming buildings. To better serve students, the University consolidated these resources into a single district to enhance accessibility. The renovation and expansion included revitalizing the Main Library and Bear Down Gymnasium, reorienting the Science-Engineering Library, and introducing the new Bartlett Center for Academic Success. These transformations have created an interconnected environment that supports mental and physical wellness, academic success, and personal growth.

The design of the Student Success District not only revitalizes existing structures but also establishes new connections between them, promoting fluidity and interaction. The reimagined libraries and new academic center serve as dynamic resources for collaboration and innovative learning, while honoring the University’s historical architecture.
